Chapter Philanthropy

In addition to supporting our National and Fraternity philanthropic organizations, the sisters of Delta Xi are actively involved with bettering our own Pittsburgh community. Our sisters volunteer with local organizations such as the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Project Smile, UNICEF, 1000Plus, and Habitat for Humanity.

As a chapter, we are dedicated to supporting Carnegie Mellon's branch of Camp Kesem, a non-profit organization that provides children who have been affected by a parent's cancer the opportunity to be a kid again for a week. In addition to fundraising for Camp Kesem, some of our sisters currently serve as counselors for this weeklong camp. Together, with the rest of the Carnegie Mellon Greek Community, we continue to foster a strong relationship with Camp Kesem through our annual Greek Sing event, in which all proceeds are donated to the organization.

In an effort to stay engaged with our college community and raise money for Camp Kesem, Delta Xi hosts annual philanthropic events with the support of our entire sisterhood. Our largest event is Pasta Pasta Sauca, which is held annually in the spring. Additional events include monthly grilled cheese fundraisers (Kappa Kappa Grill'em), bake sales, and competitive spelling bees (Spella Spella Worda - are you starting to see a pattern?). We also support philanthropic events of other Greek organizations throughout the year, using them as opportunities not only to help others but to strengthen bonds between sisters through group participation as well.
