Delta Xi Chapter Chapter

Welcome to the Delta Xi Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma at Carnegie Mellon University!

The last year has been filled with uncertainty, fear, and overall trying times as we have navigated the global pandemic both as a sisterhood and in our personal lives. We are still doing our parts to stop the spread while coming up with creative and innovative ways to keep our sisterhood alive and remain connected to Kappa.

Leading during a time like this has its unique challenges, but I am confident in both my own and chapter council's ability to lead the chapter in the right direction through our everyday work and big decisions. As we approach one year of operating as a fully remote chapter, I’m focusing efforts on how we can best support our sisters and help them feel more connected to the sisterhood than ever. In the past year we’ve had countless Netflix parties, study groups, book clubs, and many other activities to bring sisters together even when we’re miles and miles apart. We have continued our tradition of Aunt-Fluer dates to help our newest sisters be fully integrated in the chapter despite not being able to physically meet.

We have also been focusing on our DEI efforts and diversity within our own chapter. We acknowledge that we have much work to do, but we have started by opening up dialogue with sisters about our own biases and how we can create an all-inclusive chapter. We work closely with our Panhellenic council to provide opportunities for our sisters to learn, grow, and engage in conversations with DEI presenters and other members of the Carnegie Mellon Community. We hope that as the world goes back to normal over the next year, we can continue to evaluate how Greek Life and systemic racism are intertwined and begin changing our chapter-specific and national operations to create more inclusive practices.

We are looking at the challenges brought upon us by the pandemic as a way to change the future of Delta Xi in a positive manner. We look to our senior sisters to teach us what it means to be a Kappa, as they gracefully finish their time at Carnegie Mellon and move on to do amazing things in this world. We look to our middle members to step up into leadership positions and continue to make Delta Xi the amazing chapter that it is. We look to new members, to learn from older sisters and become the amazing people we know that they are both for our chapter and for themselves. We look to our alumnae, advisory board members, and house board members to thank them for how hard they have worked and continue to work to help us operate and leave our legacy for Delta Xi. I look forward to seeing how our chapter continues to grow over the next year and how this sisterhood will flourish.
